The Village Hall
In 2013 the village was asked by the Parish Council to comment on a proposal to build a new village hall. The proposal was overwhelmingly supported with the hall being in a central location on the then proposed Nurseries development.
Work on the housing development will shortly be completed and part of that includes a designated area for a village hall. It is intended that the site will shortly transfer to ownership of the Council.
A draft of the business plan is available to view here. The final version will be posted shortly.
A working group has been established by the Parish Council to support the detailed work on this scheme. It currently comprises Maurice Jordan, Richard Jones, Damian Ellis and Clare Laxton. The Parish Council is always looking to include a wide range of experience and skills as we move into the next phase of this exciting project.
If you are interested in becoming part of the working group please contact the Parish Council Clerk at [email protected].
Following further public consultation in 2019, an application was submitted for planning consent and this has been granted. Details are on the Newark and Sherwood District Council Planning Website under the reference 20/00445/FUL.
Funding from the Parish Council reserves, a major contribution from the developer, and funds available to the village (termed a Community Infrastructure Levy) together produce a healthy £348,000 for the scheme and is an excellent start to the fundraising which will need to occur.
This page has been designed to keep you updated on the progress of the project and will include photos of the various stages of development as it progresses. These can be seen on the dedicated Gallery page. The Documents page will include all relevant documents and information gathered and produced during the project life.
